Today I migrated this site from WordPress to the static-blogging platform Octopress.
The high-level abstraction provided by WordPress is both excellent, and frustrating. It allowed me to get a site up and running quickly, but didn’t give me the kind of control I wanted. I constantly struggled to organize blog-format content into separate pages for separate apps. Using categories mostly worked, but there were a few weird side-effects.
Octopress is all about control. It’s not exactly user-friendly as a result, but for a programmer it’s a quick install and it’s pleasingly powerful. I expect to stick with Octopress for some time to come.
All missing content will be returning very soon.
